Well! Isn't THIS different! Thanks to the wonderful rkzad we now have a totally custom state of the art PHP driven website. As you can see, we have tweaked the design somewhat in addition to making it XHTML 1.0 compliant, which means it should appear more or less the same on any browser, along with speeding loading times up considerably. There are a whole slew of new features to this site, some of which I will let you discover in your own time, some I will mention below:
- New posting process! Articles can now be saved for later, and you can now upload your own files for your tutorials. The moderation process is now much more usefull, as there is a "mod comments" feature, which allows discussion between the author and the moderator before the article is made live on the site.
- Skins! Thanks to the new CSS based nature of the site, making skins is now a simple task of making a new CSS file. There are a few skins all ready and waiting in your new User CP above.
- New CP! As mentioned above there is a new CP with lots of new options, have a look around. Features include a handy link to all your published articles, as well as ones currently awaiting publication.
- Notifications! You will see a link on the top bar called "Notification". This area will show you anything that is happening with your articles. You will receive a notification if your article has a new moderator comment, when it's been made public and many more beside.
- Comments! You can now comment and rate any article in the database! If you think an article misses some information, why not post a comment and tell everyone? Or you can just give feedback on how you liked it. In addition to that you can rate any article out of 5 on how useful you think it is.
- Search! The search function has been completely re-written to be much more user friendly and useful.
There are many more features besides all these, so I shall let you explore and get to know the new Wavelength. If you spot a bug, or you think there is a feature missing PLEASE PLEASE submit them to our bug/feature system located here. In the coming weeks and months we have a few more things to come, including a full featured file centre, and a FAQ system. Hope you like it folks, you can give any feedback you desire in the comments to this article. |

Umm... the new forums are too bright, is there going to be a Wavelength 3.0 (dark) skin for it |
Yes, that's in the works. Will be a few days tho i'm afraid.
I'm also going to make for the site to reflect the old brown forum skin |
Nice job everyone! Wavelength looks better and better each time I look at it. Haven't seen the forums yet, but I'm headin there right now :) |
Great job guys, it looks good, and it's a heck of a lot faster. The only thing I don't like are those post smilies. |
You mean the fact that there aren't any anymore? :P Or do you mean on the forums. |
I love it. Good job. Can't wait to develop skins for it. |
make it so we can click on users names and read like a profile or somthing -_- |
Done :) Don't know why I didn't do that in the first place :P |
make the smiles show up as a picture & if you havnt done so already maybe flood control so users dont spam comments, just a thought. |

Is now =)
| | make the smiles show up as a picture | We decided not to use picture emoticons in the comments and articles. We may change that later, but its low priority. As for the flood control, Iv'e added that as a pending feature request in our tracking system here: http://dev.thewavelength.netEdited by Bulk on Aug 28 2003, 03:40:53

Although I might be a minority and I might be frowned upon, I prefer Wavelength 2.0.1. Does anyone else think the same? |
Well if you could give reasons why, and how 3.0 could be improved, it'd be appreciated. |
