There are several hardware upgrades scheduled for the server TWL is currently located on. The server is currently housed in a data center in Houston TX, but at some point on the 25th of this month, it will be transitioned to a data center based in New York. Downtime on that move is not known at this time, but best guess is only a few hours. I'll update this post with more info as soon as I have it.
After this move, there is one more change to our hardware that will occur in early December. Currently Wavelength is hosted on one of Oktagone's main servers, which holds well in excess of 150 web sites. In early December I will be moving WL to a dedicated box that I own which is part of the same Data Center based in NY, but still managed by Oktagone. The server is a Dell P4 2.4Ghz box with 512MB of RAM and 40GB Hard Drive, and plenty of bandwidth. This server will only be home to a small number of sites, and so should be much faster and have far fewer resource problems. The extra bandwidth and space will also give us plenty of room to host some larger files, and expand the site as needed. Exact details on this move will be posted as soon as they are decided.
Because of all these moves Wavelength will be down for longer than we would like, so I hope you can bear with us while we make these changes for your benefit! |

A few hours? I would estimate a day!
Factoring in: -shut and power down the servers -pack them up -move them across the country (about 12 hours) -unpack them -setup -power up -and what not. |

The physical box isnt moving, only the data :) The boxes are already in the new data center and being configured right now, once thats done the data will be transferd. |
