SOFTIMAGE|XSI EXP for HL2 has now been made available to the general public! The only official mirror seems to be FilePlanet but I have mirrored the file my self to Wavelength's server.
Right now TWL doesn't have any XSI related content (it's a bit soon!) but Softimage seem to have a bunch so you should have a read through the quick start guide and then get more in depth info in their learning center. If anyone would like to post up an XSI tutorial of any kind, our XSI section is now live and waiting for your fantastic tutorials.
This is the first step towards editing HL2, I expect there will be allot of screenshots floating around very soon! Watch this space until then. |

Thanks for the fast mirror. Definitely beats waiting in line for 2 hours at FP. time to go learn the program... |

I posted a tutorial that should start people off on a good start. Is it ok if I post it on the valve-erc also since I help run it. Or should I just have it here only. |

I have no problem with tutorials being in both place, as long as the author posts them (i.e you) |

The free SoftImage|XSI EXP version for Half-Life is limited exporting to 4000 polygons. This is a limit in that product only. You are free to use the full (retail) version of XSI, or Maya, or 3DS (and likely MilkShape, at some point) without any imposed limits. Again, this is a limit of the free version of the XSI modeling program, it is not an internal limit of the Source engine. With the right tools, you are free to make models of significantly higher polygon counts. |

Bulk when will you get to posting that? I think everyone will find it very worthwhile. |

This monster of a modeling program doesn't seem to like Large Fonts mode. You'd think something like that wouldn't be a problem. |
