For the people not yet familiar with 'The Open Source Mod', or OSMod, I quote this:

 QUOTE
This is an open source modification for Half-Life. It is community driven. Anyone who has any sort of talent is strongly encouraged to join in. Without you, this mod will not exist. Everyone receives full credit for the parts they submit, and you have the ability to modify and enhance the source as you please.

And this news post was released yesterday:

 QUOTE
At least we are making progress. We have 3-5 dedicated mappers right now and we are seeing progress. I think a beta will be released in the near future. Of course, my predictions are not to be trusted :P. We currently have 3 'full' gamemodes: CTF (Capture The Flag, or the 'thing', as PPC named it), TDM (Team DeathMatch) and LMS (Last Man Standing), 2 'half', DM (DeathMatch) and Vampire, working gun sounds and animations (finally) and a whole lot of new features that allow highly customizable maps. Also we have a dedicated server (thanks to UrbanGamer) and a design document almost ready. Come visit us at http://osmod.thewavelength.net/ or join the IRC channel: #osmod at irc.gamesurge.net. Also remember that everyone is free to participate, so if you have some unfinished maps, half-completed models or code snippets, feel free to post them in the forums and maybe someone else will pick up the work and finish it.

note that the NVG pic isnt very sharp due to JPG compression

Is the first screenshot a joke? It's so dark I can only see the HUD and some lights to the right, no player model...

maybe you need to adjust the brightness of the screen. and its a thumbnail, you should click on it

Posted By: Bulk on Sep 01 2004 at 18:04:15
I can see it fine, its a touch dark but you can see all the details

I increased my screen gamma but it's definitely too dark of an image. (And duh I clicked on the thumbnail) My gamma and monitor settings are fine, so it's the image.

I hate to say it, but I agree...

The thumbnail's dark.

Also, why such high compression on the jpeg?Edited by XENO on Sep 02 2004, 18:34:02

What is the actual point of this mod ? is there any theme to it, or is it just a bunch of stuff slapped together ?
